Over time, everyday food and drink can cause out teeth to stain over time. So while your teeth might be healthy and straight, they might be in need for a little brightening. That’s where whitening comes in! Many of our dental patients are thrilled with the results of their whitening because they can see the effects immediately. At expatdental®, we offer two types of whitening options to fit your time and budget.

In Chair Whitening

In-chair Whitening is ideal for anyone wanting immediate results for whiter teeth. In this process, a protective barrier is applied to your gums to protect the soft tissue. A special light-activated gel is then applied to your teeth and a special light is used to enhance the action of the agent, making your teeth whiter and brighter. As a final step, we take impressions of your teeth to create custom trays for at-home touch-ups, and give you instructions for keeping your smile bright.

Take Home Whitening

At home whitening is not as fast as In-chair whitening but the desired results can be achieved albeit over a longer time period. Our dentist or hygienists will make a mold of your teeth and produce ‘custom trays’. We also provide tubes of whitening gel and instructions on how to use the custom trays for optimal effects of whitening agents.

FAQs

Does Whitening damage my teeth?

Whitening products used at expatdental® are safe for your teeth because they have been professionally formulated to be effective and safe. In-chair whitening is closely supervised by our dentists and hygienists. Our take home products are produced for your particular case. You should not try to whiten your teeth with any products not specifically sold for that purpose. You should not follow advice about whitening products often shown on social media platforms and viral videos. These can damage your teeth.

Does whitening hurt?

Depending on your gum sensitivity you may feel some slight discomfort from the whitening gel, however our staff will supervise the procedure and help with any discomfort.

How long will it last before I have to do it again?

The effects of whitened teeth varies from person to person. It can last from 6 months to 2 years depending on the types of food you eat and drink and your teeth’s susceptibility to staining. Our dentists and hygienists will give you information about maintaining your whiter smile. To maintain your whiter teeth you should avoid smoking, dark liquids like red wine, coffee, and tea, and staining foods like beetroot and berries. You should always wash your mouth with water after eating such foods.
